Spiritual Direction

with Jenell Coker

Modalities

  • Deep Listening

Spiritual Direction starts with life stories. I create a safe space for expression of thoughts, feelings and experiences. Open ended questions are asked as a way to bring clarity.

  • Spiritual Practice

Candle lighting, reading of sacred text, prayer, meditation, and times of silence can all be used as connections to the Divine.

  • Creative Expression

As a spiritual director, I encourage journaling, clay work, music and other creative expressions to help individuals not only articulate and explore their spiritual experiences, but find joy in being in this present moment.

  • The most important dimensions of the spiritual direction relationship is one of honor, listening, prayer, and hospitality. A spiritual director hears a person’s sacred stories and invites them to notice, celebrate, lament and go deeper into the extraordinary account of the Divine in their life. Time spent in spiritual direction can provide a non-judgmental space for reflection, prayer and conversation to help a person discern and grow in their spiritual journey.
